"Accomplishment" did not happen overnight for the University of the Cordilleras (UC) Hapiyoh Mi Cultural Group, instead the ensemble's selection as one of the "Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations" (TAYO) for 2011 is the result of more than a decade of evolution where unqualified dedication, commitment and hard work have been the norm of the members in their quest to fulfill the group's objectives on stage and in the community.
The 16 year drought is over. The Jaguars of the University of the Cordilleras roared once again ending 16 years of frustration after claiming the scalp of the Cardinals of the University of Baguio Thursday, October 6, afternoon at the Cordillera Career Development College to win their best of three finals for the crown of the Baguio Benguet Educational Athletic League's centerpiece event.
UC judo men's team grappled to the championship in the recently BBEAL Judo finals. The women's team, on the other hand, placed 2nd in the said sports event.
UC Softbelles hit 6th consecutive BBEAL title
UC lady jaguars brought home their sixth championship title in the 24th Baguio-Benguet Athletic League (BBEAL), hitting 14-1 against Benguet State University (BSU) Wildcats.
Before 2010 ends, UC Chorale, victoriously sang to the championships in the "7th BCC ChoraleFest" and "The Christmas Rhythm - Traditional Choir category".
Coach Panes sits in Asaphil Board
University of the Cordilleras (UC) softball coach Joel Panes has been elected as one of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines' (Asaphil) Board of Directors member during the recently concluded election in Asaphil's Manila office in December 2010.
The UC Dance Squad (UCDS) successfully defended their title as Northern Luzon's best in the Regional Qualifiers of the National Cheerleading Championships (NCC). Other squads have to settle for runner up positions as the UCDS once again tumbled, jumped, tossed up and danced their way to a strong routine leaving the audience and judges in awe for the spectacle. While there were few errors, the routine was still far ahead of the challenging squads.
Once again the University of the Cordilleras have proven its prowess in sports as the Jaguars made it to the limelight after they had championed six areas in the recently concluded first leg of the Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL).
The athletes of the University of the Cordilleras dominated Archery in BBEAL held last Sept 18 to 19, 2010 at the UP-Baguio Campus. Both the men's and women's teams are champions in the event, led by Anthony Balacdao, Steve Degway, Julius Ryan Domingo and Joshua Mangomoc in the men's team. The women's team composed of Fe Sheila Marie Dom-ayan, Chona Eustaquio, Maricel Malah-hon and Rowena Lyn Minong.
The cultural group of the University of the Cordilleras, Hapiyoh Mi, bagged 1st runner up in the Sayaw Pinoy Category of the CHED Academic and Cultural Festival. The competitions were held on March 1-5, 2010 at different venues in the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus.
