Let me begin by extending my immeasureable gratitude for this award from the University of the Cordilleras - Doctor of Humanities - Honoris Causa. This is a humbling experience and a challenge for me to deserve it - thru service to community, country and humanity. Thank you for this great honor.

I am also honored to address you today to mark a milestone in your lives - the completion of many years of study, hard work and sacrifices. It is a time of thanksgiving and an expression of affection for parents, faculty members, school administrators and staff.

Members of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Cordilleras, President Ray Dean Salvosa, faculty members, administrative staff, graduating students, parents and loved ones, distinguished guests, friends.thank you for allowing me to stand before you today at this 71st Commencement Ceremony.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine receiving an honorary doctorate degree from any school, much less this progressive university that has done-and is doing-so much for so many. By affirming, in such ka powerful and moving manner, my efforts over several decades, you have also recognized the efforts of the many people, both near and far, who have worked alongside me at Community and Family Services International (CFSI). For this, I am deeply, deeply grateful.

Thank you very much for inviting me to celebrate with you during this momentous occasion. Today marks the beginning of a new, exciting chapter in your lives-one that gives hope and brings great promise to our country's future. So congratulations, Batch 2017, for a job well done.

Let me also express my deepest gratitude to the University of the Cordilleras for giving me the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa. This is an honor and a privilege-one that I will treasure and strive to always be worthy of.

The University of the Cordilleras (UC) was among the Top 3 finalists for Best Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance in the 2018 National Gawad Kalasag held on December 4, 2018 at the AFP Theater in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

As part of the Tublay Agri-Ecotourism plan mapped by the University of the Cordilleras (UC) in partnership with the Investments in Loving Organizations that can build Village Economies (ILOVE) Foundation, members of the Tublay Organic Farming Practitioners Association Inc. (TOFPAI) were trained in making various products from local organic ingredients.

Various organizations has pledged support towards the Ecotourism Plan for Tublay in Benguet by the University of the Cordilleras (UC) which was among the Top 8 national entries in the Quest for Loving Organizations that can build Village Economies (Quest for LOVE).

After being chosen as one of the Top 8 entries in this year's Quest for Loving Organizations that can build Village Economies (Quest for LOVE), the first phase of the University of the Cordilleras' (UC) Ecotourism Plan for Tublay, Benguet is now under way.

BC-BCF-UC Founder Benjamin R. Salvosa and Rodolfo S. Cornejo were contemporary students at the University of the Philippines. Before Cornejo became famous, he was commissioned by the Founder to compose the music for then Baguio Colleges. The lyrics well reflect the Founders' vision for the first institution of higher education in Baguio City, in the Cordillera highlands, as relevant today as it was in 1946.
