UC Senior High studes bag awards in Nat'l Science Quest

Representing the Cordillera Administrative Region, Senior High School (SHS) students from the University of the Cordilleras won various awards in the 15th National Science Quest by the Association of Science Educators in the Philippines last February 9-11, 2018 in Baguio City.

In the Impromptu Speaking contest, Karen Jean G. Cruz was named the Champion besting 20 other contestants. Olga N. Arce placed third overall in the On-the-Spot Painting competition while Jeb Lief F. Longboan clinched the fourth spot in the Sci-Photojournalism event.

In the Science, Math, Techno and Environmental Quiz Bee, the team of Jenelle P. Cabinto, Jenie B. Cabinto, Franklin John F. Balubar and Donna Mae M. Sarmiento placed fourth while the team of King Joshua D. Arzadon, Mark Angelo T. Palpal, Janine Anne M. Sambile and Ma. Ysabelle L. Verzosa placed fifth among 16 participating private SHS nationwide.

"In science education, it must be student-driven and we make sure that our students are exposed hands-on to the rudiments of science and technology," said UC-SHS Academic Director Ronaldo Pontanosa.

UC is the lone private Senior High School that represented the region in the academic events after topping the Division and District qualifying rounds.
