Training and assessment educators from the Australian Trade Training College (ATTC) have begun the process of ushering the first batch of University of the Cordilleras (UC) students enrolled in the joint UC-ATTC degree/diploma/certificate program into their final year of study, ensuring that the students' necessary competence are in place before a mandatory Australian government audit team evaluates their readiness to receive an Australian qualification certificate.
In the delivery of Information Technology (IT) courses today, the learner is given a distinct advantage if the course content matches the requirements of local and international industries.
The UC-ATTC degree and diploma/certificate collaboration, is a partnership between UC and the ATTC, under the auspices of the Global Skills Group, Pty. Ltd., an Australian consultant in the development of educational networking projects. The diploma/certificate programs of the ATTC in Information Technology, Business, Hospitality and Tourism, have been duly integrated and embedded in the UC degree programs, namely,: in UC's Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), in UC's Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), in UC's Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and in UC's Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) degree programs. Thus, in one seamless learning process and time period, the student shall earn two (2) credentials, namely, a degree and a diploma/or a certificate, that, based on a curriculum jointly designed by UC and the ATTC, conforms to the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 7,789 out of 17,804 passed the Criminologist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Criminology in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last October 2011. A UC graduate, Charlene Lozano Agrito, came in 8th place with a rating of 89.10.
Recent media reports have shown that the age of youth offenders have gone younger prompting a clamor to lower the age of criminal liability. However, some quarters have also insisted that instead of punitive actions, effective parenting is still a better response to behavioral issues among the youth.

In a series of evaluation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Technical Panel for COE to UC they had an ocular visit of the facilities and they were particularly appreciative of the availability of built-in ICT multimedia facilities in every classroom in aid of instruction as well as of the updated library collection, the accessibility of the Internet facilities to students and faculty, the e-Learning facility and the full computerization of the operational systems of the College, including the Library services and they, too, were impressed by the cleanliness of the campus and the presence of state-of-the-art facilities.

A UC graduate, Christian Tiglao Pascual, a native of Capas, Tarlac, topped the list with a rating of 89.85. Another UC graduate, Janice Joy Gano Pait, came in 4th place with a rating of 88.50.
Engr./Env.P. Nathaniel Vincent A. Lubrica, a UC CITCS faculty member, was awarded Platinum Prize in the category Saving the Environment during the recently concluded Philippine Association of Institution for Research 7th National Research Forum held August 22-25, 2010 in Cagayan de Oro City. Engr. Lubrica's research entitled "Breaking the Dichotomy: Combining Geographic Information System (GIS) and Participatory Approach in Landfill Site Selection" aims to harmonize the technological and social aspects of siting a sanitary landfill. The need to harmonize addresses the fact that landfill site selection is a complex process. Numerous findings indicate that sites for a landfill maybe technically feasible but strong public opposition can overturn decisions.
