Three UC student-developed apps are semi-finalists in 2017 Google Android Masters

Three mobile applications developed by Information Technology and Computer Science students of the University of the Cordilleras qualified for the national semi-finals of the 2017 Android Masters competition by Google Developer Group Philippines.

Two apps qualified in the Social Good category namely Phommary and Shop'n Go. "Phommary" is an application that detects, processes, and summarizes into an outline the text found in a photo of an article or a page of a book. Its name came from a play between the words "photo" and "summary."

On the other hand, "Shop'n Go" allows self-checkout in any store by utilizing the smartphone camera as a barcode scanner which instantly charges the amount via online payment platforms such as PayPal.

In the Game category, "Cattus Cassus" is an adventure-puzzle game featuring a cat named Cas who fights monsters to save the city and the world.

All three apps are available for free download on the Google Playstore.

Android Masters is a collegiate inter-school Android app development competition. In 2015, a group of UC College of Information Technology and Computer Science students won the Grand Prize with their crime-reporting app "Crime Chase."

UC is a Commission on Higher Education - Center of Excellence in Information Technology since 2007.
