Teachers constitute the most important resource in the nation’s teaching –learning force. As such, they should be imbued with the ideals, aspirations and traditions of Philippine life and culture, and should be equipped not only with the necessary pedagogical skills but also with adequate and updated knowledge in their field in line with the national goal of providing relevant education.

Mission
The College of Teacher Education of the University of the Cordilleras aims to develop teachers who will be effective agents in the realization of the national educational goals and most importantly those who will be able to transform people into well-rounded individuals capable of eliciting positive change in the society.

The College of Teacher Education firmly believes that teachers constitute the most important resource in the nation’s teaching-learning force. As such, they should be imbued with the ideals, aspirations and traditions of Philippine life and culture and should be equipped not only with the necessary pedagogical skills but also with adequate and updated knowledge in their field in line with the institution’s goal of providing relevant education.

Specifically, it aims to develop teachers who:

    • Know and understand the national goals and realize how education, as an effective agent of change, can actively contribute to their realization;

    • Believe in and live the values such as work, thrift, self-discipline, self-reliance, honesty, respect for the right of others, self-respect, cooperation and integrity;

    • Have a working knowledge of an interest in the principles, science and skill in application of these for the improvement of life;

    • Show interest and faith in the teaching profession;

    • Possess the knowledge and basic skills necessary to conduct research work; and

    • Know and understand the nature, needs and problems of the environment from which to draw subject matter and thereby make teaching and learning relevant.

Bachelor of Science in

Elementary Education

The BE Ed program aims to produce competent and effective teachers in the grade school. The program integrates theory and practice in order to provide the students not only with the necessary pedagogical skills but also with adequate and updated knowledge in the various disciplines. Students under this program are trained to develop the right attitude towards teaching as well as the basic skills necessary to conduct research.

Bachelor of Science in

Secondary Education

The BS Ed program aims to produce competent and effective teachers in the secondary level. The program also integrates theory and practice in order to provide the students not only with the necessary pedagogical skills but also with adequate and updated knowledge in their field of specialization. Students under this program are trained to develop the right attitude towards teaching. The program also provides students with the knowledge and basic skills necessary to conduct research work.

The fields of specialization in the BSED curriculum are: English, Filipino, General Science, Mathematics, PEHM and Social Studies.
