UC Students are TOSP National Finalists

Wilmark Ramos of the College of Business Administration and Joey Simeon of the College of Teacher Education are proclaimed part of the final 10 students to represent CAR for the National Finals for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) search.

Out of the 14 applicants from all over the region and coming from provinces like Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet and Baguio City, Ramos and Simeon were the two representatives of UC to the prestigious search.The national search is organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the National TOSP winners will be awarded by the president in Malacañang palace.

The finalists had to pass a grueling screening committee, an extensive panel interview and a formation training program before the 10 finalists were chosen. The formation training program was held at Benguet and Ifugao State University. The panel interviews and the awarding ceremonies were held in the University of the Cordilleras.

The official submission of the names of the finalists will be submitted on June 15, 2010 for the National search. The regional finalists will go through another set of interviews and screening before they announce the national winners. There is still no set date and venue for the final search.

TUBA, Benguet - At least 500 tree seedlings were planted by the National Service Training Program students of the University of the Cordilleras and their coordinators at the surroundings of the catch water basin of the Baguio Water District in Kabuyao, Sto. Tomas, Tuba, last weekend.
